Nothing says “Happy 21st birthday!” like a giant party to pay tribute to the achievement. The list of what you and your family can do on the day is infinite but if you do choose to have a gathering, you don’t want to have the same old BBQ where you just goof around and have fun. Yes, you want to have a good time. Yes, you want to party. And yes, you want to do it in impressive fashion. So why not host a theme party?
A masquerade ball allows everyone go all formal and dress up in their finest outfit that shows sophistication. Get your friends to invite their friends if you can accomodate a large crew which will increase the mystery brought on by the masks.
Vegas night is another party goer favorite that allows you to do Vegas without really going there. This includes transforming your home into the coolest casino in town with everything from roulette tables, to guests dressed in glitzy clothes.
The 21 theme pays homage to your age and guests have to express the number in one way or another in their clothing. This could mean anything from having a t-shirt with the number printed on it, to wearing 21 pieces of jewelry.
A Decade theme like the ’60s or ’70s allows you to goof around and provides the perfect excuse to raid your parents’ closet. From the hair to the clothes to the shoes to the music, everyone and everything at your party should live and breathe your theme decade.
You could also decide to hold your very own Oscars party complete with a red party and paparazzi. Your friends could come dressed up as famous people and Awards can be given at the end of the night such as the best/worst dressed.
The Superhero theme encourages you and your guests to relive your adolescence by dressing up as your favorite comic book characters. Or even better, you can ask that everyone create their own superhero!
For the backwards theme, everything is done.you guessed it.backwards. From the invitations, saying hi and goodbye, walking, and even the clothes you have on must be in line with the theme. You can even hold a contest to see who will be the last man/woman standing especially once the drinks start flowing.
Once you have decided on a theme don’t forget to inform your friends what it is in the invitation. Nothing is worse than a theme party where no one follows the them. Above all, have an amazing time it’s your big evening.
